Think I’ll Wait for the Movie

I’m at a loss as to what more I can say about a book about Tasmanian osmiridium.

Haygarth in Burnie

The Burnie Historical Society will be hosting Nic Haygarth as a guest speaker to talk about his latest book ‘On The Ossie’: Tasmanian osmiridium and the fountain pen industry.

The event will be held at the Burnie LINC at 7.30 on the November 16.

The book looks into Tasmania in the 1900s, which had a world monopoly on point metal ‘ossie’ that were sent all over the world.

To be ‘on the ossie’ meant you had the chance to escape poverty and drudgery.
