It’s too bad that the 8’11” Wadlow’s fountain pen is not pictured. I’d love to see if it was a standard large production model of the day or if it was custom made, as his size 37 shoes no doubt were.
Science Center’s Wadlow exhibit delivers
Ripley’s exhibit at St. Louis Science Center showcases the gentle giant
ST. LOUIS — Robert Wadlow, the “Alton Giant,” is among one of the subjects featured in a traveling Ripley’s Believe It or Not exhibit at the St. Louis Science Center.
The exhibit includes oddities and unique specimens from across the globe including prehistoric animal replicas, an albino porcupine and a life-sized animatronic Wadlow which stands from a replica of his chair next to a measuring stick. Alongside that display are one of Wadlows actual size 37 shoes as well as a fountain pen used by Wadlow and a ceramic ring given to Wadlow by the Ringling Brothers. The pen and ring are on loan from the Alton Museum of History and Art.
